BAE Systems: Human Resources Scheme - Military Air & Information

In Military Air & Information (MAI) we design, develop, manufacture and support some of the most advanced military aircraft in the world for customers across the globe. Our commitment to our Customers drives everything we do and is captured in our mission – “Working as an integral part of the team delivering effective air power, our aim is to give real advantage to the men and women of our customers’ armed forces. Trusted to deliver – always”. It is a mission to be proud of but it is challenging to achieve and the role of Human Resources (HR) is pivotal to the successful delivery of solutions that bring the mission to life.

It is our people that allow MAI to produce such amazing work and it is the HR teams that add real value to the business by ensuring we have the right people in the right place at the right time, and that those people are capable of delivering our mission. This is no easy task, it requires mindful resourcing, skilful recruitment, consistent employee relations, appropriate employee support, effective learning and development solutions that increase the skills and knowledge base of our employees, robust performance management tools, a fair reward framework, and across all of those fields policies and processes that really assist our people.

As an MAI HR graduate you will be involved in many of the above activities on a range of diverse projects, with the aim of developing a good base of HR skills and having a positive impact on our people and organisation. Furthermore, if you do not already have your Chartered Institute for Personnel Development (CIPD) qualification, you are encouraged to work towards it in order to learn the theory behind best practice and further your career within HR. Where your career progresses is largely up to you but if you have the drive, ambition and skills we’re looking for we’ll support you all the way.

In MAI, HR makes a difference and the question is, can you? Your degree subject is not nearly as important as you having the ability to support our people and add real value to the business. In order to do this you need to be focused on achieving results, be able to build strong relationships, apply critical thinking to solving problems, have a willingness to develop yourself and others, and be self confident.

As a HR graduate within MAI you may be required to work out of our various sites (including RAF bases) throughout the UK during the GDF.
