The Journals Publishing Manager Role Description:
> The role of a Journal Publishing Manager (JPM) is to take managerial and financial responsibility for a mixed portfolio of proprietary and partner-owned medical journals.
> At the individual title-level, the JPM is required to plan and implement strategies that create demand for journal content, converting demand into revenue.
> The successful candidate will require an understanding of the changing landscape of scientific communication and will identify opportunities for growth.
> The role is to establish enduring business relationships with existing society partners and seek new partnerships where profitable.
> In addition and as part of the global Health Sciences team, the JPM will engage in projects which align with the overarching objective of moving the business online.
Journals Publishing Manager Selection Criteria:
> Experience in the management of scientific and/or medical journals on overall management side, production and/or marketing.
> Have a knowledge and understanding of the main cost and income streams affecting journal publishing.
> Understanding of markets for medical content.
> Good IT skills in Microsoft packages
> Educated to least first degree level or equivalent is essential, preferably in life Science. A PhD would be desirable.
